Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria on the 20th of August 1998. Captain E also know as Matthew Johnson Ekeinde Jnr is a recording and performing Artist, Record Producer, DJ and Songwriter. He is the first son of Matthew Johnson Ekeinde Snr and Omotola Jalade Ekeinde. Captain E found his love for music in 2007 when he started learning how to play the piano at the age of 9.

While in high school, Captain E would learn how to play several other instruments like the guitar, violin, saxophone, and flute. He would also discover his love for music production through his friend Abubakar Yussuff “Enibeats”. Captain E would start making beats and remixing popular Afro-Pop tracks of 2011, all while still in high school.

Now out of High school in 2014, Captain E was invited for the International Music Conference (IMC), in Atlanta, Georgia. Despite being the youngest contestant, he won third best producer. Among the mentors and judges were Jon Jon Traxx and Debra Antney. Later that year Captain E would go off to college in Europe to study Communication in Media.

In 2015, Captain E released his first two singles “What Is The Matter” featuring Verchi and Nasiru which was co-produced by NOIZ and “Jekowale” by Verchi featuring Seyi Shay co-produced by Enibeats.

In 2016, Captain E started getting recognition as a mixing and mastering engineer after he started mixing songs for record producer Del'B also known as Ayodele Basil. Captain E mixed and mastered General Pype's "All the loving" which featured big Afro-Pop artists Burna Boy and Phyno. Shortly after Captain E was requested to mix other records for various artists like Mr Eazi, Wizkid, Eddy Kenzo, Runtown, Harrysong.

Moving away from his Nigerian music roots and being heavily influenced by the European culture, Captain E displayed his knack for reinvention by shifting to a different kind of genre EDM (Electronic Dance Music) and Pop. Late 2016, Captain E would release his first EP called “Sounds of Winter” which he would not only act as a record producer and sound engineer but also as an Artist. This would mark the first time he would sing on a record. The Christmas EP featured artists Pamo, Trusting, M-AYO, Dexter and Ferdaousse.

Captain E would later on experiment with genre fusion particularly that of EDM and Afro-Pop, he would call it Afro-Electro. In 2017, he would release his first of many Afro-Electro tracks “Replay” featuring M-AYO. Replay earned Captain E his first DJ gig at his university’s rave “Spring Festival”. Later that year Captain E would also get nominated for his first prestigious award as a mixing and mastering engineer at The Beatz Awards with Harrysong’s single Comsa.

With over 5000 Facebook fans, 2000 twitter and 40 thousand instagram followers, Captain E is putting his influence to good use via philanthropic efforts. As an international artist Captain E isn’t afraid to explore new sounds as evidence by the fusion of international sounds and the core elements of Afrobeats in his music.
